December 2024

Well, it has been a long time since I posted a Blog. With creating handcrafted lavender products, ordering supplies, on web with updates to our website and social media: Facebook and Instagram, ordering seeds, managing flower fields, business meetings, packaging up orders, and letting staff what we need to do in the shop daily doesn't lead to much time for blogs or much of a personal life. Hubby calls me a homebody now. But with all the hats I wear I have learned I must take care of myself. In April I was getting plant orders labeled and ready for pick up when I fell and fractured my hip, which meant 7 weeks of not walking and then weeks of PT afterwards. Now I need a knee replacement. It was scheduled for this Friday Dec. 13th. Yep, Friday the 13th! Well, I went for teeth cleaning a few weeks before and found out I had to have two teeth pulled and so had that done last Wednesday. By Friday I had a low grade fever, stomach cramps, and aches. I do not make a good sick person. So off to the doctor and now on two antibiotics and knee replacement moved to the 30th. I am actually glad surgery has been moved back. So much was going on it was glad I was able to take a minute to breathe.

Some people say I bet you are so relaxed here at the farm. As you can see there is so much to do at the farm to insure everyone has a great time here. This is my purpose I guess in life - to let us have a great time. I am okay with that. It does give me joy.

As I seat here this week and here at the farm we are planning for 2025. We talked about, planned, and now have tickets available for a true Lavender Festival here at the farm in June. We thought long and hard what was the best for our customers and staff so all could get the best experience among the purple lavender blooms. Last year we ran the you-pick lavender from Wednesday through to Sunday. Way too much for our staff and myself, which had to sit at the gate checking people in from 10am till 2pm in the hot sun and heat sitting in our Polaris. So this new year we will have our one time of year festival June 13th - 15th with two groups 9am - 12:00 and 1:00 - 4:00. Only the people with prepaid tickets will have entrance on these days. Tickets cost $25. plus service fee of 3.00 per car load of up to 6 people. People can also purchase you-pick lavender and flower buckets or just a lavender smaller bouquet. We are offering discount prices by ordering now in winter. On Festival Day we will be distilling for lavender essential oil, we will have music going over the farm, and have lavender lemonade to sample. We thought people could enjoy sitting among the blooming lavender without all the crowds and shop. There will not be vendors as to make it more relaxing. So be sure to grab your tickets before they are gone. I know that they will be hard to get by spring.

If you do not make it to the festival we will have a June you-pick lavender tickets available on a walk up and purchase on other days, but if field is full you might not be able to pick or might have to wait. Parking will still be 5.00 per day, but if parking is full you will need to come back. David and I are getting order and just cannot sit out in the hot sun all day for a month.

At this time I am ordering our flower seeds to get germinating. What seeds you ask? Of course all spring type flowers, such as snapdragons, poppies, lisianthus, campanula, Bells of Ireland, Baby's Breath, and more. Our flowers have been a big hit for the last two years, since lavender is only in bloom in June. It's so nice to be at the farm with all these flowers in bloom. I think flowers are the sunshine for our eyes and soul.

We are also planning classes for 2025 and should have these up and ready to register by the end of February.

I am so excited with this new year bringing everyone a place that is so special and unique. If you are wanting a tour for a group of ten or more just email us and we can get your on our calendar.

Wishes all a very bright New Year and a wonderful Christmas with family.

Best regards,

Tina D.
